1st birthday gift cake

I made this cake for a little cutie named Alexis, it was her first birthday!
This was also my first fondant bow.  It was easier than I thought it would be and considering it was my first, I was happy with it!

*tip*
When making a fondant bow, make sure you tint your 'glue' to match the bow.  I did not think it mattered much...it does!  If you want to know how to make one, email me!  I would be glad to share!

zebra and a lesson in black...

My favorite niece is turning 1!!
So to celebrate we made a zebra cake with big pink 'P' on it for Paisley.

For any of you wanting to work with black fondant, don't!  Kidding!  It is really hard, I cannot get my fondant to be black but I can get it to be grey :)  So I buy it.  I did not realize what I was up against before putting this together and I could not get the fondant black so I ended up painting the stripes, hence the shine.  Which leads me to tip #2, don't paint black and then try to assemble a cake that is white!  Buy the black!..you will thank me later!

Giraffe cupcakes

Pink Giraffe cupcakes.
These cuties were for a baby shower.
We used the very popular chocolate - chocolate chip cake with cream cheese frosting.

Could you, would you...

in a house?  Could you, would you with a mouse?
I would eat red velvet in a house, I would eat vanilla with a mouse!

Okay..I'll stop!  I do love Dr. Seuss and these cupcakes were a real treat!

*tip*
When using cotton candy to decorate, remember it has a life of about 10min, literally!  Then it melts.

Black and White

These Black and white cupcakes were for a wedding.
We also incorporated some key lime as well they went with the color scheme - as a bonus, they were the favorite!  I love hearing that!

3 tier wedding cake and cupcakes

This was my first wedding cake!...and first time with fondant for that matter.
Was I nervous?...yes!
Did I have a back up plan?...Costco (kidding!)
Am I always up for a challenge?..Absolutely!!

I learned a lot while working on this.  It was a challenge, but you can never grow or learn anything if you don't take the risk!  I am always willing to give anything a girl scout try!
If I walk away having learned something, it was all worth it.

Thank you (you know who you are) for the opportunity!

Fondant - I could go on for hours so I will spare you.  But I do want to include something in this post because this was such a great learning experience for me!  Make the fondant yourself - don't buy it!  Make it the day before you need and saran wrap it really well!
If you have questions or want help with fondant email me, I would love to help!

Circus

 Circus cupcakes.

I made these for my daughters 3rd birthday.
They were much more labor intensive than I initially thought.
But, she loved them, our guests enjoyed them so I guess it was all worth it!
